To boost morale of troops deployed abroad through their full deployment with high quality, frequent care packages and handwritten letters.
The W.H.E.A.T. Story
W.H.E.A.T.’s name – We Honor Every American Troop – pays homage to Whitman County, the largest wheat-producing county in America. Situated among the rolling wheat fields, W.H.E.A.T. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization co-founded by Roger and Lana Myers. Roger, a Navy veteran, has never forgotten the words “Mail call! Mail call!” He explains, “To get just a little touch of home, builds morale. It’s just nice to hear from home. Anything from home, no matter how small, helped me to keep going.” While Lana never served in the military, her father is retired Army. Drawing from these experiences, Roger and Lana Myers began sending year-round, frequent care packages to our military troops deployed overseas in 2018. Then, on November 15, 2019, a group of like-minded individuals joined the Myers, incorporated W.H.E.A.T. as a nonprofit organization in Washington State, and W.H.E.A.T. was born!
Although W.H.E.A.T.’s campus is located in Eastern Washington State, we serve soldiers all across America who are deployed overseas. The W.H.E.A.T. campus houses a warehouse storage facility that streamlines our efficiency in the storage of donated goods and the packing/shipping of our care packages. Our long-term goal for W.H.E.A.T.’s campus is to create a Veteran’s Memorial in a park-like setting, complete with the American, Army, Marines, Navy, Air Force, and Coast Guard Flags that a volunteer will raise at 8:00 a.m. and lower at sunset every day, 365 days/year.
